Miss B

My aim is to ensure all students can have access to our service and be given the opportunity to thrive. Every student has something to offer, to share and be proud of.

Miss B (Catherine Connell) Miss B is the owner and principal educator of Miss B's Student Services. She has a wealth of experience and qualifications; 12 tertiary level degrees in fact, plus teaching experience in 3 countries. She has a passion for building confident and engaged learners that can also develop into empathetic and contributing members of the community. Miss B predominately teaches piano, vocals, choir, visual art and drama performance but is also a qualified primary school teacher and teaches maths and literacy. Miss B puts her all into everything that she does, showing dedication and leading by example for the children and adults alike that are involved in Miss B’s Student Services. Miss B strives to make all of her students feel as if they have a family in Miss B’s Student Services.

Miss B has been awarded the West Tamar Council Citizen of the Year in 2021 and the Launceston Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year in 2021. She was also a finalist in the Tasmania Community Achievement Awards in 2021. 

Mr A

I look forward to working with your family to ensure your expectations of our service are met.

Mr A (Ashley Connell) is Miss B's Student Services business manager. Mr A is the facilitator of our client timetable and accounts management. He works with families to ensure they are happy and comfortable with their experience with Miss B's Student Services. Mr A actively promotes Miss B's Student Services high quality services and educators by engaging in discussions with our loyal and friendly customer network. Some days Mr A can be found smiling and welcoming clients within our centre's reception area and other times you might hear his voice on our phone as he helps navigate timetables or any other questions you may have. Mr A thinks it is great to be part of such a great team at such an exciting time where the company is increasingly expanding.

Miss Courtney

I believe in equal opportunity and support being available for all students and know all students have great creative potential they can explore.

Miss Courtney has a Certificate IV in Visual Arts from the Tasmanian Academy of the Arts. Miss Courtney runs our after school hours group and individual art classes and our holiday workshop sessions. Miss Courtney's art practice centres on collage, illustration, and painting. Miss Courtney is also involved in our centres collaborative projects such as creating costumes, props and backdrops for our concerts and our centres involvement in community events such as the 2019 Fair Dinkum Fire Appeal and Apex Club Christmas Parade. Miss Courtney is also an academic tutor at Miss B's Student Services; specialising in literacy and numeracy for primary school aged students. While not teaching awesome art skills, she spends her time working on her own art works for exhibition around the state. She uses natural elements in her work and spends time hiking the beaches and bush land of North East Tasmania to study the coastal ecosystems. She also loves motorcycle racing and support the Tasmanian Junior Racers. Previous employment has given her a love of thoroughbred horses, which also regularly feature in her artworks. Miss Courtney has been involved in curating and organising several community galleries for our students work to be displayed in partnership with local business. The list of opportunities she provides her art students annually are too numerous to mention but you can be comfortable in the knowledge that your child will have access to many and varied opportunities to proudly display their work and build their portfolio, whilst having fun and exploring. 

Miss Jeannie

I am passionate about helping children discover their strengths and develop a love of learning.

Miss Jeannie has a Bachelor of Education and has many years’ experience working with children in education and in early learning including working as a Steiner Teacher within Launceston and as a family day care educator in Legana. Miss Jeannie is one of our fantastic academic educators, who can assist students in increasing their confidence and help them to become life-long learners. Miss Jeannie has a strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum; particularly numeracy and literacy. Miss Jeannie has exceptional experience working with students with diagnosed and suspected learning difficulties. She hold certification in PLD training; which is an AUSPELD, evidence-based, structured synthetic phonics program. She enjoys art and craft, playing hands on games and gardening.

Miss Vikky

I have a passion for music and would love to help you find your passion for it too.

Miss Vikky, is a mum of two Home Educated girls. She has held positions as a Registration Officer with the Office of the Education Registrar. She has successfully competed in the St Cecelia Performance Challenge and the Launceston Competitions in both Solo and duet categories and within Miss B’s Student Services choir, for which she has been a member since it started in 2018, attending the many performance opportunities this entails including but not limited to the Angel Hope Anti Bullying Football match opening, Choosing Hope Ceremony and at various markets and events.

She has successfully completed music exams through the St. Cecelia School of Music in solo and group categories and has a Certificate in Music Teaching also from the St. Cecilia School of Music. She have performed with Miss B since 2018 as both a soloist and member of the Miss B’s Choir.

Miss Kell

I hope to inspire my students with the idea that they can master anything they put their minds to and that even challenges can be lots of fun.

Miss Kell has a lifetime's experience as a musician. Her highest qualification is passing her grade 8 piano exam and she has recently completed a certificate of piano teaching from St. Cecilia School of Music. Miss Kell plays a variety of instruments including piano, saxophone and vocals. Miss Kell enjoys various hobbies, is also a wedding celebrant, a mum of two, plays saxophone in a couple of bands and enjoys yoga. She brings enthusiasm, skill, experience and various thinking methods to her role as a teacher. She has excellent communication and social skills and is very keen to teach students the magic of music.

Zoe & Nikitha

Our friendly receptionists and business assistants

Zoe and Nikitha, Zoe and Nikitha are our delightful receptionists, greeting families with a friendly smile as they attend our centre. Both Zoe and Nikitha can assist with appointments and payments, and has an acute attention to detail. They also help prepare resources for lessons. Zoe and Nikitha both actively engage with families and takes a genuine interest in the lives and diversity of our clients. Zoe is in year 12 at Launceston College and she is studying English Literature, Ancient History, Maths and Textiles.

Zoe often assists Miss Courtney with art and craft workshops and additional event set up such as our high teas and concerts. Zoe is very creative and her talents are well utilized for these events. She was awarded 1st prize in the Apex Teenage Fashion Awards for wearable art and has aspirations of undertaking a Bachelor of Education when she completes her TCE. Her hobbies include reading and sewing.

Nikitha is a grade 10 student at Riverside High School and is a 2022 prefect. Nikitha has completed St. Cecilia School of Music piano examinations and competed in numerous competitions and events. She has frequently been recognized for her academic achievements at school and hopes to become an architect or doctor once completing her year 11 and 12 studies.
